Hair Loss When Pregnant

Being pregnant is supposed to be the happiest time of your life. It is the time when your body is busy creating new life, and the excitement of adding to your family is undeniable. There are also a number of perks to deal with when you’re pregnant, such as having people be friendlier to you, having a spouse to help rub your feet and to wait on you every once in awhile, and, of course, getting all of the fun baby stuff. But there are some rather unpleasant side effects, including heartburn, nausea, and, hair loss. Many women, however, do not realize that hair loss is a common symptom from pregnancy and are generally surprised to find that their hair is falling out when they’re pregnant. But what causes hair loss in women during pregnancy? And is there anything that a woman can do to help her to grow her hair back while she’s pregnant?

All About Hormones

Pregnancy is all possible due to hormones. If a woman did not have estrogen she would not be able to carry a baby. It is the estrogen which causes the egg to descend and which makes it possible for a woman to be able to get pregnant and to hold the baby in her uterus. It is also hormones that cause your body to be able to do other things as well, including growing hair.

The body is a delicate piece of art, and it takes a number of things to help keep the body moving the right way, including hormones. When the hormones are not working right or in the same manner, such as when a woman gets pregnant, all sorts of things can happen, including her losing her hair.

Nutrition

Another large cause of female hair loss in women who are pregnant is malnutrition. The baby, and getting the baby nutrients, is the body’s main concern. When a woman is pregnant and is not eating correctly all of the nutrients will go to her belly, leaving none for non-vital things, such as hair. This can cause the hair to begin falling out as well, making a woman who is pregnant definitely a bit surly.

There is really not much that you can do when you are pregnant to ward off hair loss other than eating right and getting enough vitamins and minerals to help your body, and your baby, to have enough. Once you are done carrying your baby you can start to use female hair loss treatment products to help you to grow your hair back faster, as they tend to promote hair growth and will allow you to get your hair back to it’s pre-pregnancy shape in no time at all.
