Finding Hair Loss Vitamins in the Foods You Eat

As you may already be well aware of, good nutrition is important for your hair. Yes, healthy hair depends on good nutrition just as healthy skin and a healthy immune system do—along with the other parts and systems of the human body. Vitamins for hair loss are real; there is many a sham out there when it comes to hair loss treatments, but it is true that vitamins really do work for those losing their hair. The only thing is that they are not treatment, per se. They do not actively work to re-grow hair and they don’t work for filling in bald spots. In essence, they are part of prevention and healthy maintenance of hair.

Vitamin A for Hair Health

Vitamin A is one of the most important vitamins for hair loss. This can be found in a variety of the foods that you eat every day, many without even knowing how good they are for you. Milk, eggs, and cheese are all excellent sources of Vitamin A, as are most meats. Vegetables like spinach, broccoli, cabbage, carrots and cabbage are also great for the hair due to their Vitamin A content.  Fish liver oil is also a good source of Vitamin A.

It is recommended that about 5,000 IU be consumed of Vitamin A daily for optimum health and healthy hair. It is important to consider the fact that too much Vitamin A is not a good thing, resulting in hair loss and serious health problems. This vitamin works to promote healthy hair as it promotes healthy sebum in the hair follicles.

Vitamin C for Healthy Hair

Vitamin C is also a good option. This also works as an antioxidant and can help to prevent other illnesses from attacking the immune system. It is not difficult to get Vitamin C into a healthy diet, so supplementation is rarely needed. It can be found in most citrus fruits like lemons, oranges, grapefruits, tangerines and limes. It can also be found in strawberries, pineapple, cantaloupe, and kiwi. Vegetables are also a good source of vitamin C, especially those that are dark green in color. Tomatoes and potatoes are also a good source of this healthy hair vitamin.

About 60 milligrams is recommended.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is another healthy vitamin for hair loss. This is an antioxidant, and it helps to encourage proper circulation in the scalp. This can be found in soybeans, seeds, nuts, beans, and leafy greens. It can also be found in some vegetable oils and wheat germ oils.
It is recommended that up to 400 IU be taken. Anything more than that can increase the risk of high blood pressure and discourage the clotting of blood.

Vitamins A, C, and E are all important vitamins for hair loss. Treatment for hair loss should be well rounded, working from the inside out. Taking vitamins and following up with your doctor is the best route to go. A medical professional can advise you on the rest.
