Living Healthy and Hair Loss

Hair loss happens to millions of people, many of them quite young. Before finding a way to end hair loss, finding out why the hair loss is happening is necessary. Sure, you can assume that you know why you are losing hair, but if you treat it one way, and there was really another reason for the hair loss, that treatment method might not work.

A couple of things that can cause hair loss actually have to do with other aspects of your health, not just your hair. Illness is one of those things. When you are sick, your body is under stress, your reactions to things will be different, and hair loss can happen. There are certain illnesses that have hair loss as a symptom. Thyroid disease is one of them. The thyroid is one organ that is responsible for the production of certain hormones, and if it isn’t working right it can make you have either too much or not enough of some hormones. When you have a hormone deficiency, or too much of certain hormones, hair loss can occur. Other diseases that can cause hair loss are cancer, Zinc deficiency, Lupus, Cellulitus, Anorexia, and Bulimia. Hair loss will usually end when the illness ends, and new hair may grow.

Another thing that can make your hair fall out is medication. If you are taking medication such as chemotherapy medicines, lithium, heparin, warfarin, amphetamines, and levodopa, then you might have a good amount of hair loss. Usually the hair loss will end when you end the medication treatments. If hair loss is a concern, it wouldn’t hurt to ask your doctor if there is a medication that you can take that would not have this as a side effect that would work just as well. It never hurts to ask.

Stress is another thing that can cause hair loss. With uncontrollable, your body might react in many ways, including hair loss. Learning to manage stress is one great way to prevent and possibly end hair loss that is stress related. Stress can be physical, such as illness or surgery, or it can be emotional. Either way, taking control of your reactions can help end hair loss.

Living healthy is one way that you can make sure you are doing everything you can to take control of your overall health, including your hair. If you are experiencing hair loss and want to get it under control, find out why you have the problem. Then take the proper steps to end it. If your hair loss is from being sick, it should end when you get better. If it’s from medication, it should end when your treatment with that medication ends. If it’s from stress, getting your stress levels under control will help end the hair loss.

Healthy living means taking as much control as you can over what you put into your body, how you treat your body, and how you take care of any problems that arise, including hair loss.
