Hair Loss Vitamins

Healthy hair is part of a healthy body, or at least that is how the saying goes.  As a result, many of the same vitamins that you would ingest for general healthy concerns are also good hair loss vitamins from both a prevention and a treatment point of view.  Vitamins can often be a good natural hair loss treatment, but only if the hair loss that you have suffered was the result of some of your behavior.  If this is not true, vitamins for hair loss aren’t the best hair loss treatment for you or even a particularly good natural hair loss remedy.  For both female hair loss treatment and male hair loss treatment however, hair loss vitamins can represent good prevention strategy.

Vitamin A is very important to hair because it is a vitamin that promotes the production of sebum in your scalp area.  This will allow your scalp to remain strong and hold into the hair follicles that it has.  Vitamin A is also an antioxidant and that can help promote your general health.  If you are a meat eater, you can find Vitamin A in pretty much any meat or fish product, as well as in milk, cheese, eggs and other dairy products as well.  Vegetarians will be able to eat peaches, apricots, carrots, broccoli and spinach in order to get Vitamin A.

Vitamin C is another one that you should be interested in if you are looking to promote healthy hair growth.  It is also an antioxidant like Vitamin A, and it is responsible for the maintenance of healthy skin and hair.  It is accurate to say that Vitamin A works the scalp while Vitamin C works the skin.  Of course, the most famous and well known source of Vitamin C is any citrus fruit like oranges or lemons, but you can also find it in fruits like strawberries and pineapples as well as in vegetables like green peppers, tomatoes and potatoes along with any vegetable that has a dark green color.

Vitamin E, just like Vitamins A and C, is an antioxidant.  Another thing that is worth knowing about it is the fact that it increases the blood circulation in your scalp.  This allows the scalp to be healthier in nature and that in turn increases its ability to hold onto hair follicles.  Vitamin A and Vitamin E together are responsible for overall scalp health.  You can find Vitamin E in any type of vegetable oil as well as in most nuts.  Also, green vegetables that are leafy such as lettuce tend to contain a lot of Vitamin E.  This means that if you have a vegetable and cheese sandwich for lunch, you will be taking in all three vitamins in one delicious meal.

Biotin is another important vitamin, although its impact on the hair is very indirect.  Biotin comes from grain foods primarily and it is involved in the production of keratin, a substance that has been linked to the prevention of hair greying and hair weakening.  While it is not as essential as the three mentioned above vis-à-vis hair loss prevention, it is still a good thing to have.
