There are many reasons people may lose their hair and many ways that those reasons can try to be prevented. Whether you are young, old, male, or female, hair loss may be in your future.
The reasons for hair loss differ from person to person. They can be hereditary, such as pattern baldness; from an illness, such as thyroid disease or cancer; from a trauma such as being burned or having an accident; from taking medication, such as chemotherapy, blood thinners, or even birth control pills; or even from going through some sort of stress.
The only kinds of hair loss that you might be able to prevent are those that you can take some kind of control over.
- Hereditary: There are ways you can try to prevent pattern baldness completely, or at least put it off for as long as possible. Using supplements and shampoos for hair loss and changing your diet to one that gives you the necessary nutrients to grow healthy hair and keep the blood flow in your scalp healthy are all good methods. There are some products that contain a natural DHT blocker which could prevent hair loss from beginning.
- Illness: Being free of illness is not guaranteed, not matter how well you take care of yourself. There are things you can do, though, to build up your immunity, try to live as healthy of a lifestyle as possible, and prevent illnesses such as cancer from happening. If you do experience hair loss as a result of illness, keep in mind that it usually ends when you recover.
- Medication: When you want to prevent hair loss, knowing what side effects are possible with any medication you take is one step that is very important. There is usually more than one choice when it comes to medication to treat something, and there is nothing wrong with requesting a different medication if you don’t like what you are given. If you must take a medication that causes hair loss, the hair loss should end when you stop taking the medicine.
- Stress: Stress is a part of life, and learning techniques to handle stress may save you the problem of hair loss as a result. Meditation, relaxation techniques, deep breathing, and prayer are all great stress relievers.
Hair loss prevention begins with knowing what causes may affect you and how you can handle each of them in a way that will make you less likely to end up losing your hair. Prevention is the beginning of keeping your hair and looking youthful for as long as possible.
