Ways Women Deal with Female Hair Loss

Many men expect to lose their hair as they grow older and, even though it is not natural to lose your hair when you age, the fact that they have been prepared for it makes it much easier for them to handle when it occurs. Women, however, take a great deal of pride in their hair, and do not expect to have their hair thin out at any point in time. When female hair loss does occur, it can cause a great deal of psychological issues.

At first, most women who are dealing with female hair loss try to find some sort of natural hair loss treatment to “fix” their hair. They may visit a physician, or they may shy away from a doctor’s visit because they are too embarrassed. Often they ask their beautician what products they should use to make their hair grow back.

Once women have tried a number of different female hair loss treatments, they will often try to style their hair in such a way that the hair loss doesn’t show. Some women choose to cut the hair very short and to perm it so that the curls hide the balding spots on the scalp. Others, almost in defiance, allow their remaining hair to grow as long as possible, and constantly put their hair up into ponytails and buns. This can actually make the situation worse, as repetitive stress on the hair can cause it to fall out. Then there are some women who choose to hide their balding head by purchasing wigs. Wigs, however, can get extremely expensive and can be very uncomfortable to wear during the day.

Women who are losing their hair are much more vulnerable than men, for the simple fact that a woman often feels that her hair is her crowning glory. Once she loses that, she is more likely to become depressed and to have a hard time with her social obligations.
