If you were to judge who loses the most hair from the number of commercials you see on television, ads you see in magazines and online, and on the number of conversations you hear, you would think that men were the only people on earth to lose hair. Most people and advertising campaigns today would lead you to believe that female hair loss isn’t even an issue. The truth is that more and more women every year are losing their hair, and if a recent study is correct, it is happening at a record pace.
According to the numbers recently released in a major, world wide study on hair loss, up to 90 million women around the world are experiencing either thinning hair or outright hair loss. The author of the hit book The Bald Truth says that up to 40 percent of all hair loss across the board happens to women, but only a fraction of the research goes to helping women who have lost their hair.
It is true that most men don’t even realize that a woman can lose their hair. It has always been assumed that Dad might lose his hair but that the mother is the one who controls the genes that decide it. As the old saying goes, if your mom’s father had all his hair, you’ll have all of yours. It is unclear if that old wives’ tale has any truth to it, but if these recent numbers are right, daughters everywhere should start looking into female hair loss treatments right away.
While causes can be wide ranging, the same study points out that birth control pills, and the hormones inside them, may be a factor in female hair loss. If that is true, it could be a bitter pill for women to swallow. Having to choose between reproductive responsibility and keeping their hair is a decision no one should have to make.

I too have the same observation and thinning issues and would be interested in getting an answer from the professional community although they would be complicit since they have not voiced any concerns.
