While millions of dollars and millions of man hours are spent on regrowing hair once it’s gone, more and more men would prefer that the same energy be spent on hair loss prevention. The old saying that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure rings true: if most men could choose a way to keep their hair, they would much rather do that then spend thousands of dollars trying to grow it back. Is hair loss prevention possible? Let’s see what the experts are saying.
Hair loss can really be broken down into two main categories: those that are doomed to lose their hair via genetics and those that cause themselves to lose their own hair. Even if you fall squarely into category one, there is always a chance that by performing tasks from category two that you are making things much worse. What sorts of things fall into category two?
First - proper hair care. It really is amazing that more women out there aren’t bald when you consider how much they color, treat, curl and iron their hair each and every day. The less you mess with your hair, the healthier the follicle will be, and the healthier your hair will be. If you can resist the temptation to abuse your hair, your scalp will love you.
Second – proper body care. Eating well is also a huge part of hair loss prevention. Try to eat a healthy diet as often as possible. Although occasionally indulging in things that are bad for you is fine, don’t make it an every day thing. Your hair follicles are part of your body, and they will function better if your overall body health is good.
Keep a close eye on scalp conditions. If you have dandruff, don’t let it go untreated for the next 20 years. A healthy scalp equals healthy hair, each and every time.
